Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • certified Food Manager Certification or commit to certification within one month of hire
  • minimum age of 18
  • relevant experience or education in large-scale food production
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
  • availability for occasional overtime and flexible schedules
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • valid Texas driver’s license and maintain insurability
  • reliable transportation
  • ability to adapt to work in moderate to loud environments and close quarters

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • certified Food Manager Certification or willing to complete training within one month of hire
  • at least 18 years old
  • strong knowledge of large-scale food production from relevant experience or education
  • working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for large scale kitchen production
  • basic computer skills desired
  • availability for light night and weekend work
  • valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s permit and ability to provide reliable self-transportation with satisfactory motor vehicle record

Job Duties

  • Responsible for overseeing all food service operations
  • maintain food service sanitation standards
  • assemble food, dishes, utensils, and supplies needed for timely meal preparation
  • prepare high-quality nutritional food in sufficient quantity for center needs
  • prepare menus and follow standardized recipes
  • adhere to sanitation and safety procedures
  • ensure food temperatures meet USDA guidelines and maintain sanitary kitchen areas
  • wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using approved sanitation methods
  • return all items to their proper storage site
  • complete routine maintenance of kitchen and equipment including weekly deep cleaning
  • order or shop for food and maintain inventory
  • ensure all special dietary needs of children are met
  • prepare all meals including breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • coordinate menu planning with daily classroom schedule and special activities
  • prepare all paperwork for USDA and program guidelines
  • ensure Texas Department of Family and Protective Services regulations are followed to maintain license
  • ensure Attendance and Daily Meal Production are done weekly
  • ensure Claim for Reimbursement and worksheets are completed monthly and submitted on time
  • submit Time Distribution Report monthly
  • maintain and submit monthly enrollment records to CACFP
  • maintain eligibility documentation for CACFP Food Program
  • maintain CACFP application and other documentation on file
  • report any procedural deviations or risks to supervisor
  • promote parent engagement activities
  • capture and document In-Kind and non-federal share
  • assist in classroom as needed
  • assist in parent meetings, orientations, and special functions
  • perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
