Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • certified food manager certification or willingness to obtain within one month of hire
  • minimum age 18 years
  • one year of experience or education in large-scale food production
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for large scale kitchen production
  • basic computer skills
  • availability for night and weekend work
  • reliable transportation and valid Texas driver’s license
  • ability to maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and insurability

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • certified food manager certification or scheduled for training within one month of hire
  • at least 18 years old
  • strong knowledge of large-scale food production through one year of relevant experience or education
  • working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for large scale kitchen production
  • basic computer skills
  • availability for light night and weekend work
  • ability to provide reliable self-transportation capable of regional travel and maintain valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s permit with required classification and endorsement

Job Duties

  • Oversee all food service operations
  • maintain food service sanitation standards
  • assemble food, dishes, utensils, and supplies needed for timely meal preparation
  • prepare high-quality nutritional food in quantity sufficient for center needs
  • prepare menus and follow standardized recipes
  • adhere to sanitation and safety procedures
  • ensure food temperatures meet USDA guidelines and kitchen areas are sanitary
  • wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using approved sanitation methods
  • return all items to their proper storage site
  • complete routine maintenance of kitchen and equipment, including weekly deep cleaning
  • order or shop for food and maintain inventory
  • ensure all special dietary needs of children are met
  • prepare all meals including breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • coordinate menu planning with daily classroom schedule and special activities
  • prepare all paperwork for USDA and program guidelines
  • ensure Texas Department of Family and Protective Services regulations are followed to maintain license
  • complete Attendance and Daily Meal Production forms weekly
  • complete and submit Claim for Reimbursement and worksheet monthly
  • submit Time Distribution Report on last day of each month
  • submit Enrolled, New Enrolled, Drop List monthly to CACFP Clerk
  • maintain eligibility for CACFP Food Program
  • maintain CACFP application and documentation on file
  • report any non-compliance with procedures or processes
  • promote parent engagement activities
  • capture and document in-kind non-federal share
  • assist in classroom as needed
  • assist in parent meetings, orientations, and special functions
  • perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
