Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- current Serv-Safe or Food Manager Handler's Certificate required
- one to two years volume cooking experience
- ability to pass post offer tuberculosis (TB) clearance
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to work in an upright standing position for long periods
- ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam
- maintain confidential information according to HIPAA standards
- obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification
- willingness to work flexible hours as needed
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- occasional driving may be required
Job Qualifications

- knowledge of various culinary skills
- ability to follow recipes
- knowledge of or ability to learn portion control
- ability to read and understand equipment operation directions

- knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
- ability to work as a team and take/give direction
Job Duties
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner meals depending on shift
- prepare sack lunches as directed by supervisor
- prepare, set-up, and break-down in-house catering and special events on or off campus as directed by supervisor
- check with prior shift upon arrival to see if assistance is needed before continuing duties
- maintain daily inventory of food and supplies to ensure sufficient and fresh goods
- check food for freshness and spoilage before use
- use cost-effective behaviors in restocking inventory and meal preparation
- properly check donated goods for expired shelf life and adjust menu accordingly
- label and store all food items including deliveries and leftovers
- serve meals and ensure portion control
- maintain health and sanitation standards in food preparation, service, and clean-up
- notify supervisor of equipment repair/service needs
- report any incidents involving clients, co-workers, or accidents in writing
- provide direction to cafeteria volunteers and community service workers
- clean kitchen and dining room as directed
- maintain count of meals served for reporting
- order or pick-up necessary items to complete meals
- perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor
