Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • minimum one-year experience cooking for large groups or equivalent training
  • Food Handler's Certificate or ability to obtain within timeframe
  • ability to meet attendance requirements
  • ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • physical ability to perform continuous walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs
  • ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely, following all laws, regulations, and policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • one-year experience cooking food for large groups or equivalent training and experience
  • knowledge of proper cooking methods and procedures
  • knowledge of meal planning techniques
  • knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices
  • ability to cook nutritional, tasteful, and safe food for large groups
  • ability to properly clean kitchen appliances and utensils
  • ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Food Handler's Certificate or ability to obtain within timeframe
  • valid state driver's license preferred

Job Duties

  • Cook and serve nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with guidelines and schedules
  • ensure meals are prepared and served safely and presentably
  • clean kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances
  • maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner
  • follow instructions and work independently
  • ensure effective cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen areas
  • uphold food storage and safety standards
