Job Requirements

  • three years of experience in large scale cooking or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • knowledge of DOH regulations
  • ability to supervise employees
  • capability to perform heavy lifting
  • strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • excellent customer service skills
  • availability to work Monday through Friday

Job Qualifications

  • three years of experience in large scale cooking or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college with an associate degree in food service administration, dietetics, or nutrition is preferred
  • one year of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale
  • strong supervisory and customer service skills
  • knowledge of Department of Health regulations

Job Duties

  • prepare and serve food for over 500 students
  • directly supervise 5 to 10 employees
  • ensure compliance with DOH regulations and National School Lunch/Breakfast Program requirements
  • manage daily food and supply inventory and ordering
  • maintain accurate daily records
  • oversee quality control and safe food storage and handling
  • maintain kitchen sanitation and equipment
  • handle cash and maintain time records
  • perform heavy lifting as required
