Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum two years cooking experience in hotel, restaurant or hospital
  • Ability to interpret and follow recipes

  • Ability to take Food Service Sanitation exam within 3 months of hire

Job Duties

  • Prepare and portion food servings according to Diet Office tally records and recipes
  • Prepare, cook and replenish hot food items for patient trayline, cafeteria and catering
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines for food production
  • Ensure menu items are prepared according to standardized recipes
  • Attractively prepare and present food items
  • Document quantities of items prepared and leftover
  • Ensure food items are properly labeled, dated and stored appropriately
  • Observe and taste food for flavor, texture and temperature
  • Report safety issues and participate in safety initiatives
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas
  • Document food temperatures during meal service
  • Report equipment in need of repair
  • Adhere to proper portion control
  • Utilize standardized recipes and manage leftovers
  • Complete Food Waste Log
  • Attend meetings, inservices and training
  • Complete annual competency assessment
