Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred or currently enrolled in a GED program
- must complete 4 hours of annual continuing education/training in food and nutrition services
- must be food handler certified with certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- certification valid for 3 years and must be maintained and renewed
- ability to stand, walk, use hands to handle food and equipment, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- adherence to local, state, and federal food safety regulations
- willingness to attend job-related training and workshops
- ability to work with the school community
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred or currently enrolled in a GED program
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
- ability to write simple correspondence
- ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
- food handler certification required
Job Duties
- Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession
- attends job-related training classes and workshops
- practices sanitation standards in food preparation and equipment care
- follows safety standards in preparing, storing, and serving food
- follows manager's instructions in food production, portioning, garnishing, and serving meals
- participates in promoting special school and community activities
- implements cost containment measures while maintaining quality
- performs other duties as directed
