Job Requirements
- Completion of high school or equivalent
- No specific amount of experience required for entry-level
- One year of quantity cooking experience for mid-level
- Two years of quantity cooking experience including one year equivalent to Cook E6 for advanced level
- Ability to stand for long periods with repetitive bending and twisting
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Must provide three professional references including current and previous supervisors
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in quantity cooking and food preparation preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control
- Capacity to work effectively in a team environment
- Good physical stamina for standing and repetitive movements
- Experience working in institutional or long-term care kitchens is an asset
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook large quantities of food according to standardized recipes and menus
- Maintain compliance with State, Federal, and VA sanitation and safety standards
- Monitor food quality and freshness during preparation and service
- Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are clean and properly maintained
- Assist in inventory control and ordering of food supplies
- Support team efforts in meal planning and execution during peak service times
- Adhere to dietary restrictions and special meal requests as necessary
