Job Requirements
- education typically acquired through completion of high school
- no specific experience required for Cook 5
- one year of quantity cooking experience for Cook E6
- two years of quantity cooking experience including one year equivalent to Cook E6 for Cook 7
- must meet ethical standards of state employment
- must not have disqualifying felony or misdemeanor convictions
- ability to complete non-custody new employee training
- submission of an online application with resume, official transcripts if applicable, and three professional references
- willingness to report any conflicts of interest during employment
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience in quantity cooking and food preparation (none required for Cook 5, one year required for Cook E6, two years including one at E6 level required for Cook 7)
- ability to follow established cooking procedures
- leadership skills for Cook 7 level
- capability to work effectively with diverse teams
- strong attention to food safety and sanitation protocols
Job Duties
- perform cooking and food preparation tasks under supervision at the Cook 5 level
- independently prepare and cook large quantities of food at the Cook E6 level
- oversee and lead lower-level cooks, kitchen helpers, and prisoner workers at the Cook 7 level
- ensure compliance with established food safety and hygiene standards
- assist in training and mentoring less experienced kitchen staff
- maintain accurate records of food preparation and inventory
- participate in cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and cooking equipment
