Job Requirements

  • Must have OR food handler's card or equivalent
  • must obtain Food Protection Manager Certification within 6 months of hire
  • have three years of cooking experience in institution or commercial firm serving complete meals or hold an associate's degree in food service management, foods and hospitality service, or a related field
  • able to work independently from recipes and verbal instructions
  • capable of coordinating with supervisors and other kitchen staff
  • available to work at least four days per pay period as department needs require
  • willing to work in a noisy and active environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and food production equipment

Job Qualifications

  • OR food handler's card or equivalent

  • working knowledge of high volume commercial cooking equipment and sanitation
  • personal basic safety and sanitation skills
  • exemplary hygiene standards
  • ability to work independently from recipe and verbal instruction
  • preferred high school diploma or equivalent
  • apprenticeship or ACF certification as CC
  • hotel or high volume restaurant catering experience

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items for patients and visitors according to standardized recipes and verbal instructions
  • perform mise-en-place and required preparation
  • cook ingredients using prescribed methods
  • hold and serve food at proper safe temperatures
  • chill and reheat food following safety procedures
  • properly label and date stored food products
  • ensure safe food handling practices according to HACCP and infection control standards
  • prepare sanitizing agents and clean food preparation areas and equipment
  • maintain cleanliness of assigned work area
  • manage inventory and product requisitioning
  • make and oversee production schedules
  • coordinate with supervisors to adjust orders and production
  • keep records of food prepared and leftovers
