Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a kitchen environment preferred but not required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks required in food preparation
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations

Job Duties

  • Learn to read menus to estimate food requirements
  • Order food from suppliers or procure it from storage
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes
  • Learn to adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles
  • Help measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods under guidance
  • Test food by tasting, smelling and piercing to determine that it is cooked
  • Carve meat, portion food on serving plates and add gravies, sauces and garnishes to fill orders as directed
