Job Requirements

  • Must have a good understanding of most cooking and preparation principles such as sauté, braise, roast, poach, bake, steam
  • Ability to follow recipes and make basic stocks, sauces, vinaigrettes, coulis, purees and soups from scratch
  • Maintain a professional culinary appearance, attitude, and performance
  • Must be able to cook most proteins to proper internal temperature per order
  • Some meat and seafood fabrication knowledge preferred
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must live within 50 miles of hotel
  • Ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 40 pounds without assistance
  • Stand or walk for an entire work shift
  • Requires repetitive motion

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2 years minimum culinary experience in a fast-paced hotel or restaurant kitchen
  • Fine dining experience preferred
  • Serve Safe certification preferred or good understanding of local health department food handling and sanitation standards
  • Basic math skills to understand and implement recipes and measurements
  • Good eye/hand coordination for kitchen equipment and cutlery
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Culinary school or vocational school degree or certificate a plus

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food and perform other related culinary functions
  • Demonstrate strong culinary skills and have advanced level proficiency in culinary functions
  • Accomplish most tasks with minimal supervision and some guidance depending on complexity
  • Maintain knowledge and apply traditional knife skills consistently
  • Move and cover different stations following Omni and Chef standards
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Execute soups and sauces with minimal supervision
