Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Good working knowledge of food production and preparation methods including broiler, sauté, fry, roast, and moist heat
  • Good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards
  • Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, broilers, steamers, kettles
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry goods weighing up to 100 lbs continuously
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges
  • Ability to work under pressure and during busy periods
  • Ability to work various shifts including AM and PM
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform essential job functions continuously
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to listen and comprehend communication
  • Ability to work continuously in confined spaces
  • Hearing and visual ability to detect emergency situations
  • Ability to effectively manage time
  • Knowledge of Spanish is helpful

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • 1+ years of culinary experience required
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred
  • Food Handlers Certification required
  • CPR certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares all food items according to standard recipes and/or as specified on guest check to ensure consistency of product to the guest
  • Ensures compliance with all hotel policies and procedures that relate to food and beverage, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Checks and controls the proper storage of product, monitoring age and condition of all food items to rotate and maintain highest quality
  • Keeps all refrigeration equipment, storage and working areas clean and clutter free, complying with health department regulations
  • Prepares daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production
  • Reads and employs math skills to follow recipes
  • Other duties as assigned
