Job Requirements
- An OR food handlers card or equivalent
- Food Protection Manager Certification within six months of hire
- At least three years of cooking experience in an institution or commercial firm serving complete meals or an Associate’s degree in food service management or related field
- Serve Safe certification to be obtained promptly
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to business demands
- Physical ability to work in active kitchen environments exposed to heat, noise, chemicals, and variable lighting
- Willingness to adhere strictly to safety and sanitation standards including reviewing MSDS sheets
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Apprenticeship or culinary certification such as ACF Certification as CC preferred
- Food Protection Manager Certification to be obtained within six months of hire
- Three years of cooking experience in institutional or commercial food service
- Associate’s degree in Food Service Management, Foods and Hospitality Service, or related field is an advantage
- Serve Safe certification to be completed as soon as possible after hire
- Experience in hotel or high-volume restaurant catering preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare food items for patients and visitors according to standardized recipes and menus or verbal instructions
- Coordinate and supervise other cooks and food service workers in proper preparation, service, and presentation
- Monitor and implement food safety practices including HACCP procedures, hand washing, cooking, cooling, holding, thawing, and temperature monitoring
- Prepare sanitizing agents and perform cleaning and sanitizing of food preparation areas, utensils, and equipment
- Manage inventory by requesting products and supplies, checking deliveries for quality and safety, and maintaining records of food production and leftovers
- Develop and oversee production schedules coordinating with supervisors and adapting to last minute changes
- Cover various kitchen positions as needed to ensure smooth operations
