Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in hospital food production preferred
  • ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • ability to perform manual tasks requiring dexterity
  • ability to pass all required health and screening tests
  • knowledge of infection control procedures and universal precautions
  • ability to work in hot, humid, and climate-controlled environments
  • capacity to handle stressful situations and emergency extended hours
  • willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in hospital food production preferred
  • knowledge of foods, nutrition, food preparation, food production, and institutional cooking equipment
  • ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment
  • understanding of HACCP guidelines and food safety standards
  • good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Previews production guides to determine food types and quantities needed
  • plans and coordinates cooking schedules
  • prepares, seasons, and cooks food according to recipes
  • uses kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers, and blenders
  • ensures all food meets standards for quality, freshness, taste, appearance, and diet modifications
  • inspects and maintains cooking equipment and utensils for cleanliness and proper operation
  • reports problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies
  • detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food
  • understands hospital fire, safety, disaster programs, and isolation procedures
  • ensures proper food handling, dating, labeling, and rotation of leftovers
  • performs other duties as assigned
