Job Requirements

  • An OR food handlers card or equivalent
  • Food Protection Manager Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Three years of cooking experience in an institution or commercial firm serving complete meals OR an Associate's degree in Food Service Management, Foods and Hospitality Service, or a directly-related field
  • Ability to work in a very active environment with exposure to equipment noise and sanitizing chemicals
  • Willingness to follow all safety protocols including MSDS review
  • Capability to cover all kitchen positions
  • Flexibility to adjust to business demands and departmental scheduling

Job Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic diets
  • Skill in checking trays to ensure diet accuracy
  • Ability to participate in menu planning and recipe development
  • OR food handler's card or equivalent
  • Food Protection Manager Certification within six months of hire
  • Three years of cooking experience in an institution or commercial setting or an Associate's degree in Food Service Management, Foods, Hospitality Service, or related field
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Apprenticeship or ACF certification as CC preferred
  • Hotel or high volume restaurant catering experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items for patients and visitors according to standardized recipes and verbal instructions
  • Perform mise-en-place and all required food preparation steps
  • Cook ingredients using prescribed methods and serve at safe temperatures
  • Monitor food safety and sanitation according to HACCP and health regulations
  • Prepare sanitizing agents and maintain cleanliness of work area including cleaning and sweeping
  • Maintain adequate supplies and products, and check deliveries for quality and safety
  • Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and testing
