Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in hospital food production preferred
- Must have knowledge of foods and nutrition, food preparation, food production and institutional cooking equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to twenty-five pounds
- Ability to work in hot and humid conditions
- Ability to follow infection control and safety procedures
- Must pass all required health and screening tests
- Must wear personal protective equipment as mandated
Job Qualifications

- Knowledge of foods and nutrition, food preparation, food production and institutional cooking equipment
- Understanding of infection control procedures and HACCP guidelines
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing duties
Job Duties
- Previews production guides to determine food types and quantities to prepare
- Plans and coordinates cooking schedules for timely food availability
- Prepares, seasons, and cooks food according to recipes and standards
- Operates kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers and blenders
- Ensures food meets quality, freshness, taste, appearance and diet modifications
- Inspects and maintains cooking equipment and utensils for cleanliness and functionality
- Detects and reports spoiled food and equipment issues
- Ensures proper food handling, dating, labeling and rotation of leftovers
- Adheres to infection control procedures and hospital safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested
