Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a current Food Handler Card
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations and service standards
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety protocols
  • Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Basic English language proficiency
  • Ability to apply written instructions accurately
  • Physical ability to lift or move goods up to 100 lbs
  • Manual dexterity to handle kitchen tools
  • Capacity to work in extreme temperatures and confined spaces
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Hold a current Food Handler Card
  • Have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Possess good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards
  • Know how to operate kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, and kettles
  • Have basic mathematical skills to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts and portion sizes
  • Have basic knowledge of English to understand team inquiries and communicate simple instructions
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions
  • Capacity to operate beverage equipment such as coffee makers

Job Duties

  • Ensure consistent safe and sanitary food storage, preparation and cooking
  • Monitor and control maintenance and sanitation of kitchen and equipment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols including handling and transportation of foods and knife work
  • Recognize and follow quality standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy products and grains
  • Utilize leftovers effectively and control waste
  • Use a variety of cooking methods including poaching, braising, roasting, grilling, frying, and baking
  • Produce menu-quality food from scratch for buffet and plated meals in correct portions and presentations
  • Interpret Banquet Event Orders and special requests accurately
  • Safely use kitchen supplies and equipment
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude in communications with guests, vendors, and associates
  • Report incidents of guest dissatisfaction or safety issues to management
  • Follow all workplace safety, sanitary, security, and emergency procedures
  • Write shift reports as assigned
  • Perform special projects and assist other kitchen personnel as needed
  • Follow safety and security procedures and rules
  • Utilize protective equipment
  • Maintain neat, clean and well-groomed appearance
  • Perform related duties as requested by management
