Job Description

The position being offered is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) role located at the Bowling Alley on McConnell Air Force Base (AFB). McConnell AFB, a significant installation of the United States Air Force, provides a variety of support and recreational services for military personnel and their families. Job Requirements

  • Complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • Obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
  • Complete a pre-employment physical examination
  • Be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods
  • U.S. citizen or non-U.S. national who meets residency requirements
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • Provide REAL ID or authorized combination of identity documents for installation access
  • Successfully complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
  • Direct deposit required
  • May be subject to a probationary period
  • Must meet eligibility and qualification requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation and presentation in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club, or similar food service setting
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of food service equipment operation and cleaning
  • Ability to season food and determine doneness
  • Physically able to lift objects up to 40 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Perform a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items requiring little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and vegetables
  • Prepare hot cereals, broiled meats, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
  • Make cold sandwich fillings and prepare convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets
  • Prepare and bake pizza as assigned
  • Peel, chop, grind, pare, cut, slice, dice, puree, dredge, flour, or bread food items
  • Weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • Set up and replenish salad bars and portion foods for meal service
  • Wash and clean kitchen equipment and maintain sanitation standards
  • Mix ingredients according to recipes to minimize waste and maintain quality
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
