Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in food handling, preparation, and serving
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Service Manager's License from the State of Texas

  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Service Manager's License from the State of Texas
  • Experience working in a large-scale food service operation, especially in a nonprofit or institutional setting
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Certification in food safety or similar programs
  • Strong organizational skills and effective time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and delegate tasks to volunteers and residents
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen
  • Respect for confidentiality regarding resident information

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to established menus
  • Serve meals and manage leftovers, adhering to proper safety and food storage guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with local and state health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment, maintaining cleanliness in both the kitchen and dining areas
  • Monitor food storage areas and help manage incoming food donations
  • Oversee the food preparation process, ensuring efficient and organized meal service for large groups, including children
  • Supervise and direct volunteers and residents involved in food service tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to a positive and organized kitchen environment
