Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two to three years of relevant cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety standards
  • Knowledge of food preparation and service in healthcare preferred
  • Ability to mix and dispose of chemicals safely
  • Ability to work evening shifts with variable schedules
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Able to adapt to changing work environments and assignments
  • Maintain attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English

Job Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
  • High School Diploma or GED with two years of relevant cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
  • Cooking from scratch experience preferred
  • Knowledge of modified diets preferred
  • Firm knowledge of cooking techniques, cooking temperatures, and storage procedures
  • Understanding of basic principles of food production and service in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to follow basic oral and written instructions in English for safety
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve food for patients, staff, and guests according to recipes
  • Operate and clean food service equipment, utensils, and dishware
  • Follow established safety standards in food preparation, service, equipment cleaning, and maintenance
  • Properly dispose of and mix chemicals related to food service
  • Complete work in a timely manner with attention to safety, quality, and customer service
  • Organize and prioritize workflow effectively
  • Demonstrate adaptability to changes in assignment and procedures
  • Arrive on time and complete assigned shifts
  • Maintain cooperative work relationships with Food Service Department staff, Moffitt Cancer Center staff, patients, visitors, and vendors
  • Serve as a role model for new employees
  • Work harmoniously in a team setting
  • Present a positive and professional attitude at all times
