Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two to three years of relevant cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
- Ability to follow recipes and food safety standards
- Knowledge of food preparation and service in healthcare preferred
- Ability to mix and dispose of chemicals safely
- Ability to work evening shifts with variable schedules
- Strong customer service orientation
- Able to adapt to changing work environments and assignments
- Maintain attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
Job Qualifications
- Three years of relevant cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
- High School Diploma or GED with two years of relevant cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
- Cooking from scratch experience preferred
- Knowledge of modified diets preferred
- Firm knowledge of cooking techniques, cooking temperatures, and storage procedures
- Understanding of basic principles of food production and service in a healthcare setting
- Ability to follow basic oral and written instructions in English for safety
- Strong teamwork and customer service skills
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve food for patients, staff, and guests according to recipes
- Operate and clean food service equipment, utensils, and dishware
- Follow established safety standards in food preparation, service, equipment cleaning, and maintenance
- Properly dispose of and mix chemicals related to food service
- Complete work in a timely manner with attention to safety, quality, and customer service
- Organize and prioritize workflow effectively
- Demonstrate adaptability to changes in assignment and procedures
- Arrive on time and complete assigned shifts
- Maintain cooperative work relationships with Food Service Department staff, Moffitt Cancer Center staff, patients, visitors, and vendors
- Serve as a role model for new employees
- Work harmoniously in a team setting
- Present a positive and professional attitude at all times
