Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- previous cooking experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or institutional setting preferred
- knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions in a healthcare environment
- ability to read, write, and follow recipes and production sheets
- strong time management and organizational skills
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent preferred
- ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to the nursing home's menu and dietary guidelines
- ensure meals meet residents' specific dietary restrictions such as low-sodium and diabetic diets
- follow proper food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
- ensure timely preparation and serving of meals for residents, staff, and guests
- monitor and record food temperatures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- assist in maintaining inventory of food and supplies
- notify supervisor of shortages
- clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas after meal preparation
- collaborate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- follow facility policies and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols
- participate in ongoing training and in-services as required by the facility
