Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Desire to work with elderly population in respectful environment
- Ability to prepare and serve meals skillfully
- Working knowledge of food safety and health regulations
- Ability to organize tasks and manage time effectively
- Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds regularly and occasionally more than 50 pounds
- Physically able to stand for extended periods
- Free of communicable disease
- Criminal record clearance
- Current first-aid certification
- Ability to read write and understand English
- General understanding of elderly needs
- Willingness to learn
- Physically and mentally able to perform tasks as verified by health screening including TB clearance
Job Qualifications
- Desire to work with elderly in environment that upholds their privacy dignity choice independence and individuality
- Ability to prepare and service wide range of foods skillfully
- Working knowledge of rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation
- Ability to organize and utilize time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds occasionally lift more than 50 pounds and spend long periods of time standing
- High school diploma or GED required
Job Duties
- Adheres and conveys philosophy supporting dignity privacy independence choice and individuality of residents
- Prepares and serves meals as indicated and planned menus using standardized portion sizes and approved substitutions
- Ensures meals are served at scheduled times planning and organizing food preparation tasks appropriately
- Prepares meals for modified or therapeutic diets according to physician orders and modified menus
- Supervises Kitchen Assistants in absence of Food Service Director and reports problems or concerns to Food Service Director or Executive Director
- Responsible for clean-up duties as needed after each meal service
- Follows cleaning schedules and sanitation checklists to maintain kitchen and food service areas in a clean and sanitary condition
- Ensures that resident staff and guest meals are accounted for according to established procedures
- Assures that resident food preferences are met
- Visits with residents in dining room to assure satisfaction and obtain feedback
- Observes and reports any problems concerns or issues regarding food service department
- Monitors changes in status of residents and reports observations to Executive Director or Community Nurse
- Reports any abuse suspected abuse or alleged abuse to appropriate agency
- Performs all other duties as assigned
