Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Suitable for federal employment as determined by a background investigation
  • Willingness to submit to urinalysis for illegal drug screening
  • Selective Services registration for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Completion of online onboarding and pre-employment identification verification
  • Compliance with a one-year probationary period evaluating fitness and conduct
  • Completion of all application requirements
  • Physically capable of continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to climb step ladders
  • Must be engaged in manual work requiring muscular effort for an eight-hour shift

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Training or experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Knowledge of dexterity and safety
  • Ability to interpret instructions and specifications other than blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of materials, technical practices, and work practices
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
  • Experience working with food preparation and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to follow sanitary food handling procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks meals that require little or no processing such as hot cereals, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
  • Follows menus, production sheets, and recipes to prepare proper items in the quantity needed
  • Grills eggs, meat patties, pancakes, French toast
  • broils meats
  • makes cold sandwich fillings and assembles a variety of sandwiches
  • Prepares fresh, canned, and frozen vegetables
  • bakes frozen potatoes, pre-made cookie dough, and muffin batters
  • Prepares and heats convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets
  • washes, peels, and cuts fruits and vegetables
  • assembles and mixes salad ingredients and dessert items including gelatin molds and fruit crisps
  • Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified diets
  • Operates a variety of kitchen equipment and follows appropriate safety procedures
  • Follows sanitary food handling procedures
  • Disassembles and reassembles equipment for cleaning
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas and performs deep cleaning tasks when needed
  • Operates dish machine
  • Performs other related duties
