Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for federal employment as determined by a background investigation
- Willingness to submit to urinalysis for illegal drug screening
- Selective Services registration for males born after 12/31/1959
- Completion of online onboarding and pre-employment identification verification
- Compliance with a one-year probationary period evaluating fitness and conduct
- Completion of all application requirements
- Physically capable of continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds
- Ability to climb step ladders
- Must be engaged in manual work requiring muscular effort for an eight-hour shift
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Training or experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Knowledge of dexterity and safety
- Ability to interpret instructions and specifications other than blueprint reading
- Knowledge of materials, technical practices, and work practices
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
- Experience working with food preparation and kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow sanitary food handling procedures
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks meals that require little or no processing such as hot cereals, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
- Follows menus, production sheets, and recipes to prepare proper items in the quantity needed
- Grills eggs, meat patties, pancakes, French toast
- broils meats
- makes cold sandwich fillings and assembles a variety of sandwiches
- Prepares fresh, canned, and frozen vegetables
- bakes frozen potatoes, pre-made cookie dough, and muffin batters
- Prepares and heats convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets
- washes, peels, and cuts fruits and vegetables
- assembles and mixes salad ingredients and dessert items including gelatin molds and fruit crisps
- Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified diets
- Operates a variety of kitchen equipment and follows appropriate safety procedures
- Follows sanitary food handling procedures
- Disassembles and reassembles equipment for cleaning
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas and performs deep cleaning tasks when needed
- Operates dish machine
- Performs other related duties
