Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
  • food handlers permit or willingness and ability to obtain one
  • ability to pass a criminal background check
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to perform job functions with or without accommodation
  • willingness to work in a team environment
  • good organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Formally trained in the culinary arts or have equivalent experience as a cook
  • willingness to learn and work within a team environment
  • organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • food handlers permit or ability to obtain one as required by state regulations
  • good verbal communication and the ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers
  • ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation

Job Duties

  • Prep and prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director
  • ensure meals are prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion and presented attractively
  • help the Dining Services Director orient new team members and schedule
  • greet elders, families, visitors, and team members, creating a friendly, positive environment
  • ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly
  • adhere to procedures regarding infection control and foodborne illness prevention
