Job Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally

Job Qualifications

  • High school completion or equivalent
  • Experience in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen environment preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Knowledge of food safety standards
  • Skill in using kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Read menu to estimate food requirements, order food from supplier or procure it from storage
  • Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, boilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Add seasoning to food during mixing or cooking according to judgment and experience
  • Observe and test food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with a fork to determine doneness
  • Carve meat, portion food on serving plates, add gravies, sauces, and garnishes to fulfill orders
