Job Qualifications
- High school completion or equivalent
- Experience in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen environment preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Skill in using kitchen equipment and utensils
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Read menu to estimate food requirements, order food from supplier or procure it from storage
- Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, boilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Add seasoning to food during mixing or cooking according to judgment and experience
- Observe and test food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with a fork to determine doneness
- Carve meat, portion food on serving plates, add gravies, sauces, and garnishes to fulfill orders
