Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or in lieu of HS/GED, satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum 1 year of experience
  • Ability to work onsite full time during day shifts
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Capability to work in fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant cooking or food preparation experience
  • Knowledge of standardized recipes and food safety standards
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
  • Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
  • Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food is ready at specified times
  • Confer with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • Adhere to all applicable guidelines regarding storage, handling, and preparation of food as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
