Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six months experience in a general commercial kitchen position or equivalent
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Valid Texas Driver's License or government ID with acceptable driving record and liability insurance
- Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to prepare and cook nutritious meals
- Good communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally in a team
- Willingness to serve the Lord in a ministry with homeless populations
- Ability to wear required protective equipment
- Able to work AM and PM shifts including weekends and holidays
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Able to comply with sanitation and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Food Service Certification preferred
- Minimum of six months experience in a commercial kitchen or equivalent
- Knowledge and ability in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Competent preparation and cooking skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of kitchen etiquette and conflict resolution
- Genuine interest in cooking nutritious, healthy meals
- Ability to work in a team environment and problem solve
- Must complete required Food Service Certification
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally
- Maintain client and staff boundaries
- Willingness to serve in a ministry environment
Job Duties
- Adhere to all Federal, State, and local Food Service regulations, health codes and standards
- Prepare all food items ensuring high quality, proper quantity and proper presentation while retaining nutrients and meeting special dietary requests
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, residents, guests, donors, volunteers, vendors and staff
- Monitor kitchen chore workers and volunteers for adherence to health codes, safety regulations and operating procedures
- Communicate and report issues related to health codes, USDA regulations, kitchen safety and sanitation to the Coordinator and Food Service Manager
- Comply with Food Services Operating Procedures including cleaning, sanitation, stock rotation, and refrigeration temperature control
- Handle special events and banquets including setup and cleanup
- Process paperwork such as meal count, temperature logs, and cleaning checklists
- Serve as person in charge of the kitchen when assigned
- Participate in ministry and prayer activities as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
