Job Requirements

  • 6 months healthcare or restaurant facility experience
  • Illinois Food Safety Sanitation Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
  • knowledge of basic math skills
  • willingness to work in a fast paced environment
  • flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment
  • food handler certification within 30 days of hire for some locations

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • culinary degree
  • 2 years of experience as a cook in a healthcare facility
  • knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation
  • good basic math skills
  • ability to follow instructions accurately
  • flexibility to work in a dynamic environment
  • certification such as Illinois Food Safety Sanitation Certification or FSSC certification preferred

Job Duties

  • prepare and present high quality food within specified time frame for patient and retail services
  • properly follow safe food handling procedures
  • take customer's orders and prepare the order according to recipe
  • accommodate additional customer specifications or dietary needs
  • work efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation area
