Job Description
The Travis County Juvenile Probation Department (TCJPD) is a public sector organization committed to providing rehabilitative services and support to juvenile residents within the county. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food preparation preferred
- ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive motions
- willingness to undergo criminal, driving, education, and employment background checks
- ability to pass physical exam, drug test, and alcohol test
- flexible schedule availability for part-time shifts
- excellent communication and teamwork skills

- knowledge of food preparation and safety procedures
- ability to follow standardized or revised recipes
- understanding of National School Lunch Program guidelines
- ability to work in secure facility environments

- good physical condition to perform labor-intensive tasks
Job Duties
- plans, prepares, and cooks meats, soups, vegetables, sauces, gravies, salads, and desserts
- checks food for appearance and taste
- serves meals using proper portion control and acceptable serving methods
- carves and displays food items
- manages utilization of overproduced foods
- operates, cleans, and maintains cooking utensils and related kitchen equipment
- ensures kitchen equipment is operational
- maintains cleanliness and safe working conditions according to Health Department standards
- ensures proper food and supply storage and rotation
- monitors kitchen inventory and deliveries
- sets dishes and dining room equipment in proper storage
- performs other related duties as assigned
