Job Requirements

  • Must be legally able to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of related experience
  • Ability to obtain SERV Safe food handler certification within the first 60 days
  • Must be open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours from 5am-10pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Strong physical stamina for working in kitchen environments
  • Ability to follow food safety standards and procedures
  • Able to work with diverse populations
  • Time management and multitasking skills
  • Effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma from an accredited school or general education development certificate
  • One year of related experience
  • SERV Safe food handlers preferred or able to obtain within the first 60 days
  • Knowledge of basic cooking and baking skills, culinary terms, commercial food service equipment and batch cooking
  • Ability to operate food services equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including the use of percentages
  • Able to communicate and understand written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible in work assignments
  • Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to coordinate well with other personnel

Job Duties

  • Prepare food by following standardized recipes and scaling practices adhering to appropriate serving sizes
  • Thaw and prepare menu foods according to food safety standards
  • Store and maintain food according to food safety standards
  • Maintain kitchen area according to all food safety standards
  • Follow the cycle menu as directed by the Culinary Leadership Team
  • Check and record the temperature of products
  • Maintain all temperature logs for responsible products
  • Ensure inventory is available for required recipes
  • Assist in the coordination of all activities regarding pre-preparation of food items using volunteers
  • Serve food on the serving line
  • Work with culinary/nutrition interns
