Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Washington State Food Handler's Permit
- Ability to obtain Washington State Home Care Aide certification within DOH timeline
- Experience in institutional or healthcare-related cooking
- Knowledge of special diets and therapeutic nutrition
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English
- Must pass Washington State criminal background check and fingerprints
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Prepares and serves meals and snacks according to dietary guidelines and therapeutic diets
- Follows standardized recipes and modifies meals for allergies, swallowing difficulties, and texture needs
- Ensures knowledge of residents' care plans, dietary restrictions, food consistency, and swallow precautions
- Serves meals in a timely manner respecting resident preferences
- Ensures food and supplies for upcoming meals are available
- Maintains food inventory, places orders within budget
- Tracks supplies and ensures proper storage
- Maintains kitchen cleanliness, sanitizes equipment, and restocks supplies
- Complies with food handling, storage, labeling, and sanitation regulations
- Prevents cross-contamination and foodborne illness
- Monitors refrigerator, freezer, and food temperatures
- Provides assistance to residents in the dining area including cueing, redirection, and fall response
- May work HCA shifts outside cooking duties as assigned
- Collaborates with nurses, caregivers, mental health professionals, and supervisors
- Attends mandatory trainings and staff meetings
