Job Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Food Service Administration or Culinary Arts or a closely related field
  • Six months of paid full-time or part-time experience in preparation and cooking of a complete menu for a restaurant, hotel, or institution other than short order or fast food
  • Or two years of relevant paid full-time or part-time experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits above

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Food Service Administration or Culinary Arts or a closely related field
  • Six months of paid full-time or part-time experience in preparation and cooking of large-scale menus
  • Two years of relevant paid full-time or part-time experience considered equivalent
  • Ability to work under supervision and manage food service staff
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and dietary requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold food items according to established menus or specific diets
  • Plan menus and complete food requisitions
  • Maintain inventory records and manage kitchen supplies
  • Work under the supervision of Lead Cook, Supervising Cook, or Food Service Manager
  • Exercise direct supervision over Assistant Cooks and other food service employees as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Perform related duties as assigned
