Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 5-7 years experience working as a cook required
  • ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • ability to prepare and bake various pastries and baked goods
  • skill in cooking and preparing various foods
  • knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods and quality standards
  • ability to organize and coordinate kitchen activities
  • ability to accept receipt of goods and supplies
  • knowledge of ordering supplies, equipment and inventory control
  • ability to stand and walk frequently
  • ability to lift, carry, push, pull occasionally up to 35 pounds with assistance
  • ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling occasionally
  • ability to use fine and gross manipulation of hands frequently
  • ability to see, hear, talk and feel constantly
  • work onsite with rotating shifts

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
  • organizing and coordinating skills
  • ability to accept receipt of goods and supplies
  • knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control

Job Duties

  • Receive food ingredients and supplies from main kitchen and pantry as required for daily operations
  • review production schedule to determine food requirements including variety and quantity of food for preparation
  • assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily cooking activities
  • prepare and display a wide variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, salads, simple pastries/breads and cereals in accordance with prescribed recipes using a full range of cooking methods
  • test foods being cooked for quality
  • complete production sheets and other records as required
  • maintain clean work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • cater special events as required
  • attend to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies
  • detect and ensure disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions
  • prepare special diets according to prescribed standards
  • record inventory and/or order stock
