Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification required
  • Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations
  • Minimum six months experience in large quantity food preparation
  • Preferred experience in therapeutic diet preparation
  • Preferred experience in a long term care environment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal child labor laws
  • Ability to adhere to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Capability to operate food preparation equipment safely and maintain cleanliness

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menu and special requests
  • Prepares alternative food items to meet residents' individual needs and preferences
  • Prepares and/or portions food using proper food handling and safety techniques
  • Makes only authorized changes to planned menu and records changes
  • Ensures food is flavorful and served attractively
  • Utilizes standardized recipes for menu items
  • Ensures meals and snacks are delivered on time to designated areas
  • Ensures proper quantity of food is prepared and pre-portioned within schedule
  • Maintains proper food temperature during preparation and service
  • Serves meals/snacks accurately per residents' diets and preferences
  • Uses correct portion control utensils
  • Labels, dates, and stores food correctly
  • Monitors refrigerator/freezer temperatures and reports issues
  • Washes dishes and kitchen items per procedure, recording water temperatures
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work area
  • Performs assigned cleaning using proper chemicals
  • Uses infection control techniques and protective equipment
  • Ensures availability and proper storage of kitchen items
  • Assists in receiving and verifying food and supply deliveries
  • Reports inadequate stock levels promptly
  • Uses supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
  • Maintains kitchen security
  • Follows safety techniques and equipment operation protocols
  • Reports equipment problems to manager
  • Completes tasks on schedule
  • Recommends improvements to recipes, menus, and food service
  • Collaborates with coworkers and interacts positively with residents, families, and visitors
  • Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for shifts
