Job Requirements

  • high school graduation or its equivalent
  • vocational or on-the-job training in cooking
  • one year experience in food production and cooking in demanding schedules or one year of experience including culinary school
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • ability to understand oral and written instructions
  • ability to do simple arithmetic

Job Duties

  • perform functions requiring sound knowledge and skill in quantity and batch cooking methods and procedures
  • assist in preparing and cooking foods to order for a major patient-care and commercial cafeteria facility
  • comply with University Health and Department policies
  • ensure proper care and use of foods, supplies, and equipment
  • comply with safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations
  • maintain good guest and working relations
  • assure competent, efficient, and timely performance of duties and assignments
  • meet established daily deadlines with accuracy and quality performance
