Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification required
- Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations
- Six months experience in large quantity food preparation
- Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred
- Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old due to federal labor laws

Job Duties
- Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to a planned menu
- Prepares alternative items to meet residents' individual needs and food preferences
- Prepares and/or portions food using proper food handling and food safety techniques
- Makes only authorized changes to the planned menu and records changes appropriately
- Ensures that food tastes good and is served in an attractive, appetizing manner
- Utilizes standardized recipes to prepare menu items
- Ensures that meals and snacks are delivered on time to designated areas
- Maintains proper food temperatures during preparation and service
- Serves resident meals/snacks accurately according to diet orders and preferences
- Uses correct portion control utensils during preparation and service
- Labels, dates, and stores food properly
- Maintains refrigerator/freezer temperatures and reports discrepancies
- Washes dishes and kitchen items following proper procedures
- Keeps work area clean and uncluttered
- Performs cleaning assignments and uses proper chemicals
- Follows infection control techniques
- Assists in receiving, storing, and verifying food supplies
- Reports inadequate stock to Culinary Manager
- Uses food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
- Maintains kitchen security
- Operates equipment safely and maintains it clean
- Completes tasks according to time schedules
- Makes recommendations for improvements to Culinary Manager
- Works cooperatively with team members
- Interacts positively with residents, families, and visitors
- Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for shifts
