Job Description

This position is offered by an Adult Care Home, a specialized residential facility dedicated to providing quality care and support for adult residents who require assistance with daily living activities in a secure and nurturing environment. Job Requirements

  • Must have experience in food service
  • must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions
  • must be able to lift, push, or pull minimum of 50 pounds
  • must maintain cleanliness of kitchen within NC Environmental Health Standards
  • must have an understanding of NC Rules and Regulations
  • must have no substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program
  • must have a clear SBI and DMV record and maintain them during period of employment
  • must wear slip resistant shoes while working in dietary at all times

Job Duties

  • Plan required menus with specified portions and snack
  • ensure food availability for preparation
  • prepare menus at least one week in advance with portions and snacks
  • plan therapeutic menus per physician orders with dietitian consultation
  • record menu substitutions before serving
  • post menus for staff guidance and residents
  • maintain updated food preference list for residents
  • prepare and serve three meals daily with specified time intervals
  • ensure hot foods served above 140 degrees F and cold foods below 45 degrees F
  • prepare nutritional bag lunch for day program attendees
  • serve appropriate menu snacks daily
  • take inventory and purchase food supplies within budget
  • check food deliveries for accuracy and maintain records
  • maintain residents' dignity, safety, and self-respect
  • uphold confidentiality of resident information
  • cooperate effectively with staff and relate well to residents and families
  • apply accident, fire safety, OSHA, and emergency procedures
  • assist residents in exercising Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights
  • ensure proper care of equipment and supply utilization
  • comply with all Adult Care Home and employee policies
  • participate in job-related continuing education
  • perform other related duties as assigned
  • notify appropriate staff of residents' irregular eating habits and special needs
