Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or in lieu of HS/GED, satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
- Minimum 1 year of experience in cooking or food preparation
- Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work night shifts
- Availability for full-time employment
- Ability to work on-site without hybrid or remote options
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent competency demonstrated through a UCHealth-administered test
- Minimum of 1 year of cooking or food preparation experience
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition principles
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment
Job Duties
- Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
- Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
- Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
- Confer with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
- Adhere to all applicable guidelines regarding storage, handling and preparation of food as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area
- Use critical thinking skills and decisive judgment to work with minimal supervision
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action when necessary
