Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or in lieu of HS/GED, satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in cooking or food preparation
  • Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work night shifts
  • Availability for full-time employment
  • Ability to work on-site without hybrid or remote options
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent competency demonstrated through a UCHealth-administered test
  • Minimum of 1 year of cooking or food preparation experience
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition principles
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment

Job Duties

  • Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
  • Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
  • Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
  • Confer with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • Adhere to all applicable guidelines regarding storage, handling and preparation of food as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area
  • Use critical thinking skills and decisive judgment to work with minimal supervision
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action when necessary
