Job Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to and from various sites in private vehicle as needed
  • Provide proof of immunizations: MMR, Tdap, and a clear Tuberculosis Self-Assessment
  • Able to pass a company-paid physical exam prior to starting work
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to prove the right to work in the USA by providing appropriate documents to complete the Federal I-9 form
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain certification in First Aid Training/CPR including Infants and Children
  • Must be able to obtain State of Arizona Food Safety Manager Certification and Food Handlers Class within one month of employment
  • Exposure to indoor environment, heat exceeding 85 degrees, hazardous cleaning chemicals, sharp knives and slicers, very hot foods and equipment
  • Frequently stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing step stool, carrying/lifting heavy objects 0-25lbs, operating kitchen equipment and using sharp knives and slicers
  • Occasionally picking up and dropping off supplies, moving furniture or equipment 20 to 50lb, and performing clerical duties
  • Must maintain timely attendance and adhere to agency policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate accountability, safety focus, and teamwork
  • Must be dependable and adaptable

Job Qualifications

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid Arizona driver's license and excellent driving record
  • Prior experience in food service activities including meal preparation, food handling, inventory, ordering, and CACFP compliance
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Submit a current AZ Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to start date
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desired
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish is desired
  • Three years' experience working with CACFP or School Lunch Program is desired
  • Three years' experience working with Head Start is desired

Job Duties

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks using cycle menus that comply with CACFP and Head Start guidelines
  • Post menus and advise center staff of proposed changes
  • Plan meals, calculate food requirements, and order food from vendor using centralized ordering system
  • Prepare quantity of food to meet CACFP and Head Start standards
  • Maintain entire kitchen to meet sanitation requirements, clean dishes, stove, carts and work surfaces after mealtimes
  • Demonstrate sanitary practices in relation to preparation of food and personal hygiene
  • Provide nutrition information and/or nutrition experiences for parents and participate in learning experiences for children related to nutrition
  • Maintain daily inventory of food and food service supplies and submit order forms
  • Receive food orders, sign bills and submit paperwork and bills to Accounting on the established schedule
