Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience as a cook, preferably in healthcare settings
- knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets
- willingness to obtain ServSafe certification if not already certified
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- strong communication skills
- teamwork and time management abilities
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- prior experience as a cook, preferably in a nursing home, hospital, or healthcare setting
- knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets such as diabetic, low-sodium, pureed
- ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
- ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and diet orders
- ensure food is handled, stored, and prepared in compliance with Department of Health and facility sanitation standards
- assist in menu planning and ensure proper portion control and presentation
- coordinate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to maintain smooth meal service
- monitor food and supply inventory
- report shortages or equipment issues promptly
- maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, storage, and food prep areas
- follow safety and infection control procedures at all times
- participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives
