Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience as a cook, preferably in healthcare settings
  • knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets
  • willingness to obtain ServSafe certification if not already certified
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • strong communication skills
  • teamwork and time management abilities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • prior experience as a cook, preferably in a nursing home, hospital, or healthcare setting
  • knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets such as diabetic, low-sodium, pureed
  • ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and diet orders
  • ensure food is handled, stored, and prepared in compliance with Department of Health and facility sanitation standards
  • assist in menu planning and ensure proper portion control and presentation
  • coordinate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to maintain smooth meal service
  • monitor food and supply inventory
  • report shortages or equipment issues promptly
  • maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, storage, and food prep areas
  • follow safety and infection control procedures at all times
  • participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives
