Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous culinary experience
  • ServSafe certification required
  • knowledge of dietary regulations for seniors
  • ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work in a hot and humid environment
  • strong attention to detail
  • excellent communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • ServSafe certification
  • knowledge of health and safety rules in food preparation
  • knowledge of cooking times and temperatures in accordance with state guidelines
  • knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
  • demonstrated ability in a wide range of food preparation skills
  • experience working with seniors and their dietary needs
  • ability to read, write, and speak English

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items on Food and Beverage Director's daily menu for residents within scheduled time frame
  • keeps food service areas clean
  • monitors inventory
  • supervises servers in the absence of the Food and Beverage Director
  • maintains clean, neat, and safe work environment
  • demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment including ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, and freezers
  • assures that resident diets are being followed
