Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in food preparation or institutional kitchen setting preferred
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to follow food safety standards strictly
- ability to work scheduled shifts including opening and closing duties
- ability to wear required protective gear such as hairnet and closed-toe shoes
- willingness to complete all required trainings
- ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and team
- reliable attendance and punctuality

- knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
- ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions

- ability to handle physical demands of kitchen work including standing for long periods
- familiarity with food production equipment and safety regulations
Job Duties
- Prepare all meals and snacks for residents and qualifying staff
- time food production so all food is ready at service
- prepare food items according to recipes and menus preserving freshness, quality, and appeal
- utilize batch cooking techniques to avoid over or underproduction
- apply safe food handling techniques at all times
- store food items using proper labeling and dating
- hold prepared food at appropriate temperatures below 40 if cold and above 135 if hot
- maintain production records including food usage, overages, shortages, and customer counts
- maintain established logs for food temperatures and equipment
- keep a clean and sanitized work area
- follow established work rules and regulations
- properly open and/or close the kitchen including securing doors and equipment
- maintain a safe, tidy, and organized work environment
- communicate needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor
- assist supervisor with paperwork
- monitor kitchen equipment and report issues immediately
- support other kitchen staff in performing essential functions
- proactively monitor communication posting areas
- assist supervisor with ordering and inventory including in their absence
- put away and pull stock as needed
- count and log all utensils twice per meal and report discrepancies
- help supervise residents during meals when needed
- help train new staff on kitchen functions
- wear required protective gear including closed-toe shoes and hairnet or designated cap
- complete all required annual trainings for kitchen, county, and facility
- assume other duties as assigned by food service supervisor
