Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two years of work experience in large scale food preparation and volume cooking
  • ability to pass a background check
  • possession of a Food Handler permit within three months of hire
  • possession of current Serve Safe certification at time of hire

Job Duties

  • Plan and direct preparation and service of meals that meet senior nutrition program requirements
  • supervise the Kitchen Aide
  • consult Senior Services Director concerning senior food habits and needs
  • prepare all types of cooked food such as meat, vegetables, soups, gravies, and baked goods
  • treat each individual with courtesy and respect
  • portion food for serving based on standards
  • serve food in an appealing manner
  • complete menus, shopping lists, and necessary documentation for food program
  • inspect meals for conformance to standards
  • maintain inventory of daily food use
  • adhere to sanitation and safety requirements including SERV Safe standards
  • maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation
  • assist in dishwashing and cleaning work areas
  • collect and place garbage in designated containers
  • cooperate with agency inspections
  • follow County and OSHA safety guidelines
  • maintain professional and courteous behavior
  • participate in continuing education and training
  • maintain professional certifications
  • perform other duties to ensure smooth work operations
  • maintain confidentiality of client and staff information
