Job Requirements

  • Previous experience preferred
  • Must be ServSafe certified within one year of employment
  • Hampton Roads Fats, Oil, and Grease Training aka HR F.O.G. Certification required
  • Ability to prepare hot and cold food items
  • Capable of assembling assorted diet foods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must comply with health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • ServSafe certification within one year of employment
  • Hampton Roads Fats, Oil, and Grease Training certification
  • Previous experience in institutional food preparation preferred
  • Three years experience in institutional food preparation or related field desirable
  • Ability to follow special dietary requirements
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold food including vegetables, salad, baking, proteins, and desserts
  • Work with special diets and assemble assorted diet food
  • Serve meals in a resident dining area
  • Prepare next day breakfast, lunch, or dinner
  • Prepare catering and special event meals
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
