Job Requirements

  • Evidence of training or experience demonstrating ability to perform assigned duties
  • Compliance with food safety standards
  • Ability to maintain kitchen safety and hygiene
  • Willingness to obtain Serv Safe Manager Certification within 90 days if not already certified
  • Ability to work 35-40 hours per week or part-time with proportional credit
  • Ability to interpret instructions and follow specifications
  • Capability to work without more than normal supervision

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Serv Safe Manager Certification preferred and required within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities through detailed descriptions on resume
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene
  • Skill in using and maintaining kitchen equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and meal preparation specifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare nutritious, high quality meals for Veterans
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and tools in good condition
  • Interpret and follow instructions and specifications for meal preparation
  • Work with minimal supervision while ensuring consistent meal quality
  • Adhere to established work practices and safety protocols
  • Support team operations within the Nutrition and Food Service department
