Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ServSafe certification
  • minimum 1 year of cooking experience
  • ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights
  • commitment to food safety and cleanliness

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ years of cooking experience
  • ability to adapt recipes and accommodate dietary restrictions
  • experience with food presentation and portion control
  • familiarity with kitchen safety and sanitation standards
  • basic record-keeping and inventory skills
  • strong teamwork and communication abilities

Job Duties

  • Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus
  • altering or adapting recipes to accommodate special dietary needs or to improve recipes
  • ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving
  • coordinates and participates in serving food including monitoring portion control to meet residents’ requests and minimize waste
  • maintains an accurate record of chargeable meals and submits records monthly
  • assists with menu planning and adjusts menus with Dietary Manager
  • assists in identifying food and supplies needed for menus and reports to Dietary Manager
  • prepares meats for storage and portion control upon delivery
  • ensures proper handling, storage and labeling of all delivered foods and ingredients
  • maintains a clean, orderly, safe and sanitary kitchen environment
  • ensures compliance with regulations
  • assists in training other kitchen staff in food preparation
  • performs other duties as assigned
  • complies with all policies and procedures
