Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous cooking experience in a commercial or nonprofit kitchen
- ability to lead and motivate a team
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation best practices
- physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
- commitment to the mission and values of San Diego Rescue Mission

- Proven experience as a cook or similar culinary role
- strong leadership and team management skills
- knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations
- ability to plan menus and prepare nutritious meals

Job Duties
- Plan prepare and cook nutritious meals for students guests and the broader community
- open and close the kitchen facility maintaining a high standard of cleanliness organization and readiness
- lead train and support kitchen staff and volunteers fostering a positive team-oriented environment
- manage inventory coordinate with suppliers and ensure appropriate ordering and storage of food and supplies
- ensure full compliance with food-handling regulations health codes and safety standards
- engage graciously with students guests and volunteers actively supporting the mission to serve individuals experiencing homelessness
