Job Requirements

  • high school diploma
  • minimum of 2 years of prior kitchen experience
  • food handlers certification
  • CPR certification
  • maintain open communication lines with facility staff, attending clinicians, physicians, patients and families
  • must pass background and drug screening

  • knowledge of principles and practices of food preparation, meal service, cooking safety and sanitation
  • understanding of the Department of Health kitchen facility standards
  • familiarity with drug-free and violence free workplace policies

Job Duties

  • demonstrates knowledge and understanding of basic food preparation and safety standards
  • knowledge of all functions within the kitchen facility
  • communicate with the Chef/Dietician/Nutritionist on necessary quantities and portions of all planned menus
  • assume responsibility for the proper food preparation, meal set-up and breakdown, meal service and overall cleanliness
  • provides for well-managed and clean facilities and equipment
  • executes all tasks in a timely manner and prepare food in such a way that proper portions will be served while attempting to prevent waste from over cooking
  • take responsibility for the proper storage and care of foods in the freezers, reach-ins, and walk-in refrigerator, making certain that all areas are kept clean and orderly
