Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Serv Safe Manager’s Certificate
- Food Handler’s permit
- Prior experience in food preparation
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Capable of working full time
- Good physical stamina for kitchen work
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Willingness to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks
Job Qualifications

- Prior cooking experience in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to handle special dietary needs
- Serv Safe Manager’s Certificate preferred

Job Duties
- Prepare and serve all food items and meals according to planned menus and recipes
- Inspect special diet requests to ensure correct diet is served
- Prepare and serve substitute foods for residents refusing standard offerings
- Maintain sanitary conditions and comply with food safety regulations
- Keep food storage areas clean and organized
- Obtain and maintain Serv Safe Manager’s Certificate and Food Handler’s permit
- Assist in purchasing and inventory management of food and supplies
- Dispose of food and waste properly
- Label, date, and store food leftovers appropriately
- Check in purchases and assist in inventory
- Assist in serving meals as needed
- Open and close kitchen according to schedule
- Record temperatures of coolers and freezers
- Ensure staff arrive and depart on schedule in absence of Culinary Services Director
- Perform cleaning duties as assigned
- Prepare next day’s items and manage thawing under refrigeration
- Prepare various dishes including soups, entrees, and desserts for regular and special diets
- Coordinate food production timing with meal serving hours
- Control meal portions and food consistency
- Manage safe storage and use of kitchen inventory
- Set up carts for meal delivery to resident dining areas
- Provide friendly interaction with residents, families, and visitors
- Support community marketing efforts
- Communicate resident condition changes to supervisors
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, residents, and guests
- Encourage teamwork with co-workers and other departments
- Support professional image through appearance and actions
